A little guidance

Make the numbers useful.

A simple plan works best when it reflects what you actually expect.

What goes into starting cash?

Use the money available to the business at the start of your chosen plan date, before that day’s planned payments. Money already received belongs in this balance, not in expected customer payments as well.

How do I keep the plan up to date?

When you move the plan date forward, update starting cash to the new balance. Remove payments already received or paid. If a payment is still outstanding, give it a realistic future date. Entries before the plan date are excluded from the forecast and flagged for review.

What does a projected shortfall mean?

It means the entered starting balance and expected payments would leave cash below zero on a projected day. It is a prompt to review timing and assumptions. Daily closing balances do not show the order of payments within a day.

Does changing currency convert my money?

No. A plan uses one currency. Changing it relabels the same amounts and does not apply an exchange rate. Convert foreign payments yourself before adding them to the plan.

Is the sample my business data?

No. The sample contains fictional figures so you can explore the planner. Choose “Start my plan” for a blank workspace. Starting over or restoring a backup replaces the current workspace after confirmation.

Can I connect my bank or collect payments?

CashPlan is a planning tool using amounts and dates you enter. It does not connect to a bank, move money or collect customer payments. Your forecast is an estimate based on your own assumptions.
